Harmonizing the Chakras with Precious and Semi-Precious Stones and Crystals

How to harmonize the chakras with precious and semi-precious stones and crystals?

Put simply, the chakras are energy centers in the body that receive, process and distribute life energy.
The word “chakra” itself comes from Sanskrit and means “wheel” – a rotating energy flow of light and vibration. It is believed that balancing the chakras helps protect us from illness, psychological problems and an unhealthy life.

Explained in the simplest possible way, we could describe the chakras as receivers, reservoirs and transformers of energy. Energy – the most valuable resource in the Universe! In Sanskrit, chakra means wheel, and Indian traditions describe the chakras as rotating wheels of light and color. The chakras are special centers in which bioenergy is received, processed, stored and radiated. The energy collected in the chakras is distributed through 14 central channels (meridians) and a complex network of channels resembling the nervous system (about 64,000) to the organs.

The proper functioning of these centers is considered fundamental to our health, psychological state and vitality. Any disturbance in chakra activity is believed to reduce human vitality and contribute to a number of illnesses. There are many possible reasons why chakra function may become disrupted. The most common and dangerous causes of blockages are considered to be stress, negative emotions, poor nutrition, disconnection from nature, exposure to modern technologies, and so on.

Fortunately, there are many methods for harmonizing chakra activity. Popular methods include yoga, meditation and various Eastern arts – tai chi, qi gong, Ayurveda, Reiki and so on. In the first place, however, comes work with our own emotions, thoughts, perceptions, eating habits and lifestyle. In fact, practicing a spiritual teaching can also influence our psyche and way of life.

In addition to the methods mentioned above, stones and crystals are considered especially beneficial. The best effect is believed to come from combining more than one method. Knowledge about stones and crystals comes from centuries of practice and observation by ancient Indian and Chinese healers. Ancient teachers and healers concluded that placing certain stones and crystals on a particular point (an energy center – and here we do not mean only the chakras) could have a restorative effect. Activating or calming a particular chakra is believed to influence healing in a wide range of conditions.

While conventional medicine generally works with symptoms expressed in the physical body, those who work with crystals and minerals believe that true healing occurs only when work is done at the energetic level. For each energy center or chakra, certain crystals or minerals are used whose vibration and energy are believed to stimulate its activity. You can view the detailed list of suitable crystals for different conditions.

Before looking at the stones most commonly used for each chakra, let us briefly explain the subtle energy surrounding our physical body. This subtle energy is often called the aura. The aura is described as our electrical force field, an invisible energy surrounding the physical body. This field (the aura) consists of four energy bodies: etheric, emotional (astral), mental and spiritual, which are made up of 7 auric levels, each corresponding in color and energy to one of the chakras. Each of these levels is connected to the body through the chakra to which it belongs.

The etheric body is the first level. It is also known as the physical aura or the aura of health. It is associated with the root chakra. Its color is red.

The emotional (astral) body is the second level. It corresponds to the Sacral chakra. Its color is orange. It is associated with emotions, feelings, desires and passions.

The mental body consists of two levels – intellectual and intuitive. These are our rational mind (corresponding to the color yellow) and our intuitive mind (subconscious and Higher Self) – corresponding to the heart chakra and the color green.

The spiritual body consists of three levels associated with the throat chakra, the third eye and the crown chakra.
