How to Cleanse and Charge Citrine

How to Cleanse and Charge Citrine
Citrine is one of the few stones traditionally considered self-cleansing. In many spiritual practices, it is believed not to retain negative energy, but rather to transform it.
Even so, periodic cleansing can help the stone restore its natural freshness and energy.
Ways to cleanse citrine
Running water
- One of the easiest methods is to rinse it briefly under running water for a few seconds.
- Then gently dry the stone with a soft cloth.
Moonlight
- Leave the citrine on a windowsill or outside overnight to charge in the moonlight.
- This method is considered particularly gentle and suitable for most minerals.
On clear quartz or selenite
- Placing citrine on clear quartz or selenite for several hours is also a popular method of energetic cleansing. A selenite bowl or selenite charging plate is excellent for this purpose.
Through intention or meditation
- Some people prefer to hold the stone in their hand and briefly focus on the intention of cleansing and balance.
If the citrine is heat-treated (made from amethyst), it is much more sensitive to direct sunlight.
Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight can make it brittle or cause its rich orange color to fade, turning it pale yellow or even grayish. 15–20 minutes in the morning sun is completely sufficient.
How to charge citrine
Citrine is often associated with solar energy, so brief exposure to sunlight can help charge it.
However, it is important not to leave the stone in strong sunlight for too long, as some minerals may fade.
A small tip
Many people wear citrine as:
- a bracelet
- pendant
- small stone in a pocket
- talisman in a wallet or bag
This keeps it close to you and turns it into a personal symbol of optimism, abundance, and positive energy.
