A Special Gift for a Crystal Wedding – 15th Wedding Anniversary

A few days ago, an elderly lady called me looking for a crystal pyramid. Unfortunately, we did not have one in stock and I could not think of where she might be able to buy one.

Another day or two passed and the same lady called me again. She sounded desperate and worried. She asked what versions of the “Wish Tree” we make. I explained that the Wish Tree is made exclusively to order and can be created exactly as she would like it. The woman wanted it made with rose quartz. She explained that she needed it as a gift for her daughter, who had recently celebrated 15 years of marriage. I immediately understood that this was a special occasion.

I suggested adding clear quartz to the rose quartz – the two crystals are symbols of love, purity and harmony within the family.

The elderly lady agreed with everything. Even though we did not know each other, she trusted me completely and said she would leave everything to my judgment.

I rolled up my sleeves. I prepared a handful of rose quartz and a handful of clear quartz and began making the little tree. I wanted it to become something truly special, beautiful and original.

I found a very nice base. I mixed a special blend of plaster and C200 glue and secured the tree so it could set for at least a day and become strong – after all, it would also have to travel by courier…

I waited almost 24 hours. At first I thought of painting the base green with acrylic paints, but the idea did not seem quite good enough. I went to one of my favorite art and craft shops and really liked the idea of using what is known as texture paste. I chose two versions – a lighter and a darker green – that imitate moss and grass.

With a small spatula, I carefully applied the paste to the base, leaving the middle section white. At one point I thought it might be very interesting for this part to look like rock.

But no – that would have looked terrible. So I added more of both pastes and the base became even and much more pleasing. Using a special adhesive, I attached several rose quartz crystals to the base as well. This gave the little tree a much more finished appearance.

There were only one or two details left – a beautiful little label that would not be too conspicuous.
